PDKV Akola Releases Advisory on Rhizobium & PSB Seed Inoculation for Rabi Harbhara

University scientists recommend dual bio-fertilizer treatment to boost root nodulation and save up to 25% on chemical nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers.
Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth (PDKV, Akola) has issued practical guidelines for farmers preparing to sow chickpea (हरभरा) in Vidarbha's deep black vertisols.
The Scientific Dual Inoculation Method 1. Preparation of Slurry: Dissolve 50 grams of organic jaggery in 500 ml of warm water and allow it to cool completely. 2. Inoculation Ratio: Add 250 grams of Rhizobium culture and 250 grams of Phosphorus Solubilizing Bacteria (PSB) culture to the jaggery slurry. 3. Application: Coat 10 kg of chickpea seeds gently until a uniform thin film forms. Dry the seeds in shade on a clean sheet for 45 minutes before sowing. - Economic Benefit: Rhizobium fixes 30–40 kg of atmospheric nitrogen per hectare, while PSB solubilizes fixed soil phosphorus, cutting fertilizer input costs by up to ₹800 per acre.
