Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth (PDKV, Akola) has released its wheat management extension advisory for farmers undertaking irrigated winter wheat cultivation.
Key Practical Advice 1. Critical 21-Day CRI Irrigation: The first irrigation at Crown Root Initiation (मुकुट मुळे फुटण्याची अवस्था - 18 to 21 days after sowing) is non-negotiable. Skipping this stage reduces productive tillering by up to 35%. 2. Top Dressing: Apply 35 kg Urea per acre immediately prior to the first irrigation. 3. Rust Scouting: Monitor lower leaf blades for yellow or brown pustules. At the earliest sign, spray Tebuconazole 25.9% EC @ 1 ml per liter of water.
