National Fodder Mission: Subsidized Silage Making and Dry Fodder Banks Setup in Western Vidarbha

Department of Animal Husbandry sanctions community fodder banks and 50% subsidy on mechanized chaff cutters to safeguard milch cattle.
To prevent livestock distress sales during the upcoming post-monsoon dry season, the Maharashtra Department of Animal Husbandry, under the National Livestock Mission, has initiated a fodder conservation drive across Buldhana, Akola, and Washim.
Program Components for Dairy Farmers 1. Silage Making (मुरघास निर्मिती): Distribution of 500-gauge silage storage bags and bacterial inoculants with 60% subsidy to preserve green maize and sorghum fodder. 2. Chaff Cutter Machine Grants: Individual dairy farmers owning 2 or more milch cattle can apply on MahaDBT for a 50% subsidy on electric chaff cutters (कडबा कुट्टी मशीन). 3. Community Fodder Banks: FPOs and village dairy cooperatives will receive up to ₹10 Lakhs financial assistance to procure and store dry straw and fodder blocks.
