MSAMB sanctions 150 new urban direct marketing platforms for Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) to eliminate intermediary commission margins.
The Maharashtra State Agricultural Marketing Board (MSAMB), Pune, has notified an expansion of its Sant Shiromani Shri Savata Mali Shetkari Athavadi Bazaar Yojana, creating direct urban retail outlets for farmer groups.
Benefits for FPOs & Farmers - Zero Middlemen: Farmers sell freshly harvested pulses, vegetables, and fruit directly to urban consumers in Pune, Nagpur, Nashik, and Mumbai, pocketing 20% to 30% higher net realizations. - Infrastructure Grant: Registered FPOs receive subsidized electronic weighing scales, foldable display canopies, and transport assistance. - Consumer Benefit: Urban households receive farm-fresh, unadulterated produce at rates 15% lower than traditional retail supermarkets.
