MGNREGS Accelerates Farm Bunding (शेततळे व बांधबंदिस्ती) for In-Situ Soil Moisture Conservation

State employment guarantee commissionerate directs village panchayats to prioritize continuous contour trenches and stone bunding.
To reinforce in-situ soil moisture ahead of the dry winter season, the Maharashtra Employment Guarantee Scheme (EGS) Department has issued an action circular prioritizing earthen bunding (माती नाला बांध) and continuous contour trenching (CCT) on sloping farmland.
Program Specifications & Farmer Wages - Zero Cost to Farmer: Individual small and marginal farmers owning agricultural land can execute farm bunding entirely funded under MGNREGA individual beneficiary schemes. - Erosion Control: Bunding retains topsoil rich in organic carbon and arrests rainwater runoff, recharging shallow groundwater aquifers by up to 25%. - Gram Panchayat Enrollment: Eligible farmers can submit Form-4 demand applications at their village Gram Rozgar Sevak desk.
