Distribution of automated photo-sensor solar insect traps under NFSM to combat nocturnal pod borer moths in Arhar and Gram.
The Maharashtra Agro-Industries Development Corporation (MAIDC), in collaboration with the National Food Security Mission (NFSM-Pulses), has initiated distribution of automated Solar Insect Light Traps (सौर प्रकाश सापळा) across Vidarbha.
Operational Features & Subsidy - Automated Operation: Equipped with an internal battery and solar panel, the unit automatically switches on at dusk for 4 hours and turns off at night, attracting and trapping adult male and female moths. - Chemical-Free Pest Control: One trap per acre controls adult generations of Helicoverpa armigera, Spodoptera, and white grub beetles without chemical sprays. - Subsidy Structure: Small and marginal farmers receive up to 60% subsidy on the purchase of certified solar light traps via MahaDBT.
