Maharashtra Energy Dept Initiates Solarization of Agricultural Pumps on High Voltage Distribution System (HVDS)

Mahavitaran installs dedicated 11 kV agricultural power lines and capacitor banks to prevent rural low-voltage motor burnouts.
Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has commenced Phase-III of its High Voltage Distribution System (HVDS / उच्च दाब वितरण प्रणाली) scheme, targeting 75,000 agricultural pump connections across rural Vidarbha.
Technical & Economic Impact - Elimination of Motor Burnouts: By running 11 kV lines straight to individual farm transformers (10 kVA or 16 kVA), voltage drops and motor burnouts are completely eliminated. - Lower Transmission Loss: Technical line losses drop from 22% down to under 8%, ensuring full water discharge from submersible pump impellers. - Safety: Replaces sagging low-voltage cables, drastically lowering electrical accident risks in farmland.
