Commissionerate of Agriculture Launches 'Baliraja Jal Sanjeevani Yojana' to Revive 91 Stalled Irrigation Projects

State and Centre commit joint funding to fast-track incomplete barrages, lift canals, and medium dams across suicide-prone agrarian districts.
The Government of Maharashtra, with financial assistance under the central Accelerated Irrigation Benefits Programme (AIBP), has accelerated physical execution on 91 long-pending irrigation projects under the Baliraja Jal Sanjeevani Yojana (बळीराजा जलसंजीवनी योजना).
Scope & Regional Coverage - Beneficiary Districts: Yavatmal, Amravati, Akola, Washim, Buldhana, Wardha, and 8 districts of Marathwada. - Irrigation Potential: Completion of pending distributaries and land acquisition will bring 3.75 Lakh hectares of rainfed farmland under assured surface canal water. - Special Monitoring Unit: District Collectors are empowered with fast-track rehabilitation compensation powers to resolve land acquisition roadblocks on main canal routes.
