The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Climate Prediction Centre has issued its seasonal temperature forecast for Central India covering the post-monsoon and early winter transition months.
Meteorological Insights for Maharashtra Farmers - Temperature Projections: Night-time minimum temperatures across Vidarbha, Khandesh, and Marathwada are projected to dip by 1.5°C to 2.0°C below normal starting the second week of November. - Agronomic Advantage: Crisp cooler nights are ideal for crown root initiation in wheat and suppress secondary fungal rot in winter pulses. - Advisory: Farmers are encouraged to complete chickpea sowing between 15 October and 10 November to maximize tillering before peak winter chill.
