The Central Drought Monitoring Cell (CDMC), operating under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, has published its post-monsoon drought assessment report in partnership with the National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC / ISRO).
Geospatial Assessment Summary - Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI): While Konkan and Western Ghats recorded surplus rainfall, rain-shadow micro-watersheds in Western Vidarbha and Central Marathwada registered negative SPI anomalies (-1.0 to -1.5). - Early Rabi Mitigation: State authorities are advised to deploy localized soil moisture conservation programs, fast-track crop loan restructuring, and arrange fodder reserves in vulnerable talukas.
